Tire and wheel insurance from BMW??
Is $1150 for T&W ins for 5yrs a fair price, or is there wiggle room? I'm considering it for a 335D sport package. Thanks!

ish: thanks for the reply. Was yours from BMW or Zurich? 5years? The cost difference is substantial, so I wanted to make sure first.

I think the one my wife got from the bmw dealership was around $1k but it is not a BMW branded warranty.

Take the $1150 and put it towards mods.

How many WHEELS are you guys going through?????????
If the answer is ZERO, then that is mighty expensive road hazard insurance! Tirerack, Discount, BigO, Americas, Sears, etc all sell insurance for much less- about $20-30 per tire, no?

But at the time I was buying the car, the CA warned that the RFT and OEM rims are expensive and I fell for it and sprung for the insurance. Todate still on original tires after 3 years and 60,000 miles. Of I have to do it again I'll pass on the A&T insurance. Sent from my SGH-I717D using Bimmer App |

Actually if I had a sports package then I'd maybe consider the warranty due to the roads in my area and less "give" for those wheels. I did not want to get the warranty I have but have it and in a way probably has saved me money because had I not had it then I'd actually strongly considered aftermarket wheels.

I have a friend who would actually drive over a nail to claim on the insurance for his C300!!
I have 2 more years left on the insurance and probably need new tires next year. Sent from my SGH-I717D using Bimmer App Last edited by DC-IT; 10-09-2012 at 09:12 AM. |

I live in the suburbs of Washington, DC. When I bought my Audi S6 in 1995, in a 6 month period (fall/winter) driving downtown, I hit 4 potholes, bent 4 wheels and blew out the tires. DC and many areas in MD have crappy roads. I drive carefully but it still happens!
After having the first two wheels replaced I found out they could be straightened in many situations. My 335D has 18" tires and are more low profile than my Audi. It is worth the peace of mind to me. |
