None Mf steeringwheel installed, will a new mf work? (Euro)

Hi

My desire is to retrofit the 3-spoke mf steeringwheel. (3/99-9/01) In my 520i e39 9/99 Touring Euro
I have searched various threads and Realoem.com, and come to the conclution that the wheel will fit.
I`ve found the offical install guide for retrofitting the wheel, and the other DIY guides on this site.

But the current wheel i have now, is the 4-spoke none-mf steeringwheel , and not any stalk for cruise control.
In the offical guide, its said that i need GAR/MFL cabel set for the retrofit, but i have no desire for cruise-control. So i wondered if i skip the cabel set install, will the mf buttons work?

The cruise control isn't on a "stalk"...it is one of the buttons included with the MFL steering wheel (right button pod)...and the buttons that operate the cruise control feature is linked directly to the DME. So if you don't have cruise control, the MFL steering wheel won't "magically" make it appear.

The MFL buttons communicate over the I-Bus. So if you install an MFL steering wheel...you would also need the corresponding slip ring so that the MFL control module can communicate with the existing components that you have that could possibly be controlled by the steering wheels buttons. If you do not have the feature installed...then obviously the button for the MFL button wouldn't work since there would be no corresponding component to receive the data over the I-bus from the MFL button.

BTW, the MFL control module is incorporated into the right button pod...and the wiring from the wheel runs through the slip ring to the connections in the steering column.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, and yes iknow that even if i had the cable set, cruise control wouldn`t "magically" appear The idea was for cars that had the cruise control settings on the stalk, would need the cable set to make it work on the steeringwheel.
Sorry if i made my first post unclear, none native english speaker here

Update!

Well with the gra/mfl cabel set *drum roll* cruise control did magically appear!

I installed the cabel set and my new steering wheel today, everything works.
Its strange... my car had no mention off cruise control in the vin number, and neither in the vehicle spec card that came with the car.
It seems bmw has other models to "pre wired" with the required components, i`ve read on e46 forums, with people doing the steeringwheel swap,
and its the same.
