Changing order - too late?

Hi

I have ordered a BMW last week, and I wanted to add some options.

However the dealer is saying that since there is a chassis number in the order, I can not do it anymore....

Any ideas, how to proceed? Can I cancel my order (and lose the deposit?) or is it really too late?

Thanks

No lose

In CA at least, you can't lose deposit. They are required to refund it if you change mind.

You can't change an order once it goes to the production status. If you want to change it after you will have to order a new one. Check your local laws regarding deposit returns.
In the US it varies by state but in CA they are 100% refundable as stated previously. In other areas there may be re-stocking fees.

If the car you ordered is in production status, it is too late to change that vehicle.

Read the contract you signed. The one we signed for our Z4 (UK) had specific language about canceling. If you signed a similar document, you aren't just liable for the deposit, you are liable for the entire amount of the contract. If the dealer is able to resell it, that would be credited towards the amount owed.

Talk with your dealer. They may be able to work with you, if the car you ordered is one they could easily resell.

Nothing in the contract but we had the chance to have a great dealer.

He did agree to order a new one with the specification we wanted.

I have to say he has been very very good.
