When it comes to brakes, OEM is the way to go. Any aftermarket pads or rotors, will cause squeaks and pulsations. Swap them out with OEM, and noise is gone.

OEM meangin orignial equipment manufacturer. You can purchase those at any BMW dealership at the parts department. My brakes were squeaking recently as a matter of fact. Had my rear pads replcaed 2 days ago with pads from the BMW dealership, put anti squeal on the pads, and squeak is gone.

drive with them on 2-3 days, sometimes there is built up brake dust, the anti squeel is applied to the back of the pad. oems can also squeel if not installed correct.

I find the biggest problem with brakes is that they don't get properly lubricated. I always lubricate the slides and then use a really good silicon grease ( often supplied with the pads) on the back side of the pad. Some cheap pads just squeak no mater what but for the most part simply using something on the back of the pad will stop this. I also believe that you should service your disc brakes . If you make sure that your pads and caliper slide are moving freely they will last longer.

Akebono are great pads....not cheap. I agree with checking anti squeal paste. Lubricate caliper rails also.

Mine don't squeak. A lot of other guys on the board are using the same setup you have with the zimmerman and akebono. They all seem pretty happy with the setup. I have the akebono brake pads and they are excellent. Highly recommend with no problems.

I have the same setup (Zimmerman/Akebono) with zero issues or noise. No pulsating, squeaks or other weirdness. It sounds like you have an improper install or the rotors/pads didn't get properly bedded in.

Zimmerman/Akebono is a excellent set up. little details makes big difference, beside changing the rotors and pads, you have to make sure that the pad has a angle at the inner side ( where that squeak noise i created ), if it doesn't have it, get a grinding machine and grind down that inner edge... We also use a special coat on pad ( on the friction side ), anti-seize on the non-friction side and lube the slide pins... MERCEDES -BENZ customers are very delicate about squeaky noise, that way is how we learn to fix that issue on every european car ( of course, BMW too )... i hope that help.

What he said. I've never had an issue with OEM parts. You get what you pay for.
