Water pump broken?

So today I was pulling out of my driveway and started hearing a cracking noise as I accelerate so I immediately turned around and park again. I opened up the car and removed the splash shield only to find various small rounded broken parts as well as three small magnetic rods. I also noticed the main drive belt slipped out from the alternator pulley as well as the pulley right above the main tension pulley...... Also, minutes later, as I was trying to detension the pulley to put the belt back in place... all my coolant spilled out under the main belt tensioner pulley. It looked like it was originating from the top where the water pump is. The car has 108k miles and I'am really not sure if the pump was ever changed..

Any suggestions on what the source maybe? If other then the water pump?

Also, where would these broken pieces be coming from? I did not see anything visibly broken.

any ideas?

Let's be serious.
First, sorry for the break down. Good luck you broke down at home!

I'd strongly suspect the thermostat cracking and leaking before the water pump. Or the hose connections to the thermostat.
Remove some stuff and take a good look with a light.

All your pulleys in good shape? All of them?

That pic sucks. Take a few clear ones and post them all.

Even if it isnt your water pump, at 108k miles i would suggest replacing any/all cooling system components. At this point, any original equipment is a ticking time bomb

No worries, the pump is $50 - $70, the 2 belts are about $40 and the t-stat is maybe $80. With the coolant, you are looking at $200 in parts.

You can also find an aluminum water pump pulley for roughly the same price as the oem plastic one, but will give you a little more piece of mind

I meant the canister that is right beside the ATF container. The O ring seems to have a small leak in it.

If the shoe fits

That's the oil filter housing.

And what you call the ATF container is the Power Steering fluid reservoir.

New O-ring comes with every new filter.
Buy a new one and install the O-ring now.
