Recently my baby BMW decided to start clicking when starting the engine. The clicking comes from the back of the car behind the driver's side. It is difficult to keep the car from turning off. If I keep the car in park and press the accelerator, it does increase the rpm but will sputter and then turn off. When I go into DRIVE, it shuts off. It sounds like gas isn't getting from the tank to the engine.
Any ideas of what is wrong? Any help would be appreciated. |

Sounds like a failing fuel pump which is under the rear seat. You can easily pull the seat out, that should help identify where the sound is coming from. If you replace the pump, don't forget to change the fuel filter at the same time.

Thanks so much for the information!!! We were thinking either the fuel pump or the fuel relay. This is going to sound strange.....how do you pull out the rear seat?/

Never done it, but if I'm correct, grab the front bottom of the seat and just pull up and towards the front and it should come out.
