Beware of idrive battery drain
I noticed every once in a while that Blackberry would be slow to start. I took her into dealer for battery check and some other maintenance as she's coming up on 50K miles. They found that while at rest...she was being woken up way too many times due to the controller for the idrive causing excessive battery drain. They replaced the con module and the battery and everything is ok now. I didn't even know the idrive controller was supposed to light up.
![]() OAN...when I went to pick her up I test drove a 2011 M3 E93....OMG!

You can help this problem by locking her while she sleeps, even if you park in a secure home garage. When the car is not locked it will stay awake longer than if it is locked, thus draining the battery more.

Thanks Thunder!! I'll definitely make that a new habit. I'm guilty of not doing that in the garage.

I have my doubts this observation would be the case if the car, like mine, had the factory alarm system. |

The factory alarm system was the culprit of this issue on my wife's '08 535xi.
