Replace headlight glass E39 02?

Hi, I've got a cracked headlight glass. There is condensation inside the glass, so I need to replace it. I was wondering it I could use the headlight glass that is for 97-00 E39's?

If not, where can I get just the glass? The rest of the headlight assembly is in great condition.

You can't use them on your 02 E39 (facelift). These are what you want http://www.schmiedmann.es/5_series/E...side/page3.htm

So, I'm reading horror stories about the newer style headlights not being bakeable. My headlights has the black thingy on top, but I tried looking at the sealant, and I stuck a screwdriver into it.
The screwdriver sticks in the sealant, and I was able to remove some sealant with the screwdriver. Does this sound like the butyl type sealant? It seemed like it was soft.

And, if they can be baked, what type of new sealant should I use?

You have an 02, most likely you would be able to bake it and separate the lenses.

I baked mine (2002) and you can find the entire autopsy in this set of threads by typing /headlight F3 in the bestlinks:
