Do these rare cars depreciate at the same rate as their non-M siblings?

I'm sure they do.

But only if you sell it.

Seems as nobody wants to own them, especially outside of warranty....regardless how rich they may be.

I'm in it for the long haul.

It does make sense to take advantage of the extended warranty/maintenance options when the time comes.

"Rich" people tend to move on to the latest, greatest cars because they can.

I'm not sure if they are rare. Google Lamborghini depreciation and you will see the difference.

To answer your question, you just have to look at the depreciation history on the previous M6 models to predict the future values of the current cars.

Also, you could look at the residual values BMW is using in their leases on these cars.

Personally, I plan for my M6 to stay with me for a long time.

There's something magical about 6 series BMW's.

I have recently ordered a 2014 M6 Coupe and will lease it for 3 years with 15,000 miles per year, through BMW Financial Services. The residual value at the end of three years is 50%, whereas the residual value for the same period and mileage for a 650 xDrive Coupe is 54%.
I think that BMW assumes that most original owners who lease an M-Series vehicle will push it rather hard and that after 3 years it will have more than your average vehicle's wear and tear, which makes logical sense to me.

I agree with M6Cpe... If you plan to own an M-Series vehicle for a period of time and/or mileage beyond the original mfgr's warranty, I would also highly recommend investing in the BMW Extended Warranty program for piece of mind. The cost of repairing these engines and suspensions once the vehicle is out of warranty is very very expensive.
I purchased an Extended Limited Warranty from Mercedes-Benz for my 2007 M-B ML63 AMG for just that reason. So far, at 70,000 miles and religiously having all of the mfgr. suggested servicing performed when recommended, (or earlier, i.e. oil/filter changes every 6,000 miles), by the M-B Dealer where I obtained the vehicle, I have not had any major issues. But I have "peace of mind", just in case.... and it all goes towards truly enjoying all aspects of these wonderful high-performance vehicles.

What color combo and features did you order? When do expect to take delivery?
