Need help in deciding on the price of the car
Hello all, new member here. I am currently looking at a CPO 2009 BMW 328i Xdrive with 9574 miles. The dealer is asking for $28485. I am planning to go and look at it, but wanted opinion as to whether the price seems to be right. The car was a personal lease(atleast thats what the carfax says). Below are the features on the car (it has the premium package). Sorry for big post
Also since it is gonna be a CPO what are the kind of checks or questions I should be asking apart from whatever is mentioned in Carfax.Also do you guys think there is any room for further negotiation, since the car is already priced below the KBB value? At that mileage, I doubt the dealer will come down much. I don't see '09 e92s priced that low locally. g/l

Did you check BB on it? why 328i? Just remember that dealers sell used cars for way more that they got them for and they make more on them then if they were new. So I would always go at least 4000. less than what they are asking. you can always move up.

Yes, you are right I did mean KBB. Sorry about that. well it maybe lower but they also look at how much they payed for it. So, as I said it never hurts to try. The worst is they say no. Right!! Would you not be happy if you got it for less! I was always told that you never pay sticker always try to get it for less. I have 2 brothers that sold cars at one time and they always said used cars are extremely marked up. they make more money on them than if it was new. When My family member worked at a dealer we would always get a minimum of 3000.00 off the new cars we bought. So, it would be cool to hear you got it for less!! Good luck on the possible purchase.

SULEV is Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle. The difference is in the engine. SULEV cars have the N51 engine and the other ones have N52. I was reading somewhere on this forum that SULEV vehicles namely N51 engines are not as reliable as N52. And you are right I want the car for 28K to 28.5K out of door. So that does come to around 26485 before tax title and tag.But I wanted to be really sure about the car based on all of you BMW owners opinions before I started spending time negotiating with the dealer.

Ya I agree. go to car and drive and look to see how it rates and make sure that includes a warranty. I am sure if you decided to make a deal you wife will love it. I have a BMW 330i and my husband has and Audi A6 and we love them.

I am guessing you meant to say SULEV is not going to help get a lower price?
Also the ad for this car has been there for more than 120 days. I spoke to the dealer and he said the car is still available. I mean a good looking BMW AWD drive coupe with low miles and price below the KBB value being for sale for than 120 days, should that raise some red flags? |

Maybe it should but I am in California and Dealers have a responsibility to have the car in good running order. Also it should have been inspected. If I were you I would asked to drive it and not only drive it take it out for at least 2 hours and have it inspected by someone you trust spend the money to do it because you are spending a lot more at the end of this if you buy it. I learned that when you are spending that kind of money and you are planing on driving it daily you have the right to have some time with it before you buy it and if the dealer is not open to that then there is an issue and run the other way.

Take it to a good body guy to have it looked at for any damage or replaced parts on the car. Everything isnt reported to car fax, and a good body guy can see if the car was repaired.

They dont have the best reputation. I noticed where the car was after I posted. I have a friend that works there, so I will make a phone call to see if he knows anything on the car. He is a salesman. I will also see how low they would be willing to go. If its CPO, they pay like 2000 to have the car certified, which is passed along to the buyer.
