Urgent help and advise please!!!!

Hi Guys I just noticed yesterday and today on my 530i sport 2002 model year, from a really warm engine intermittently whitish smoke coming out from the exhaust, I remember from past threads is there an issue with breathers blocking up?
The car is going into the workshop in the morning for a full engine flush and oil and filter change, is this a possibility or valve stem seals, the white smoke smells like burning oil, your help and guidance would be much appreciated

White smoke is coolant; blue smoke is oil.

Engine flush? Oil or coolant?

Defiantly oil I could smell it whilst reversing into the garage this eve!
What is this about breather pipe blockage, where us it located so we can check it in the morning?

If you are smelling oil (what is your oil consumption rate), then the problem is probably your CCV. If the white smoke is due to water (are you losing coolant?), then you have a very big problem (head gasket).

The CCV is similar to a PCV (same function, different approach and layout). There are a variety of tests that can indicate a CCV problem. See this for CCV tests. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=534005

This is a very common problem on e39s. It fails many e39s around 75K-125K. Driving habits (short drives after cold starts) accelerate failure. Replacement is a doable DIY but kind of a PITA. See this for a DIY:

Wow! That was fast! I tend to order the parts and then wait 6weeks to 6 months before doing a job.

Did you also replace the distribution piece on top of the intake manifold?
