front door removal

my first question as a new member- Does anyone know the secret to getting the electrical connector apart at the door jamb? I have removed the 8 mm screw and pulled the rubber boot away from the connector, cannot spot any tabs or other releases, and put as much force as I dare at this point. I must be missing something?

Disconnect the battery negative cable before messing with any connectors in the door; otherwise, you will have SRS light when you put back everything.

Never mind- I figured it out last night. You have to pull the connector through the opening completely- it helps to remove the bolt securing the inner door frame to the outer shell, which has a plastic cap over it to prevent it chafing the rubber boot- this provides more clearance to get the harness pulled through the hole. Once the entire connector is visible, you will see the cam lock plate which looks like a plastic cap on the body side of the connector separation point, on the top surface of the connector. Pull the "cap" upward to release; once it s in the fully up position, the connector will finally separate. HURRAH! To reassemble, you have to push the connector halves together to an initial point, then push down on the cam lock "cap" to allow the cam action to pull the halves fully together. When putting the connector back through the hole, be sure to get the plastic projection hooked at the bottom, and the 8 mm bolt holds it in at the top. then reinstall the bolt securing the inner door frame/outer shell and finally its plastic cap.
