Sticking an M50/M52 into an E21 should be similar to sticking one in an E30, since both were available from the factory with the M20 I-6. There are tons of write-ups about that, especially at places like r3vlimited.com (an e30 site). The bigger question is what parts are different between the E21 320i and E21 323i.

You need the 323 subframe to mount the m50 in the bay.

![]() This e30 is now being parted out. NO body panels are for sale, bumpers/fenders/hood/mirrors/valance or front turn signals. Everything else is up for grabs. Euro grills/cluster are sold, suspension/brakes/LSD/rear tails are already spoken for. |

You cannot use an e30 suub-frame. You have to use the e21 M20 sub-frame and you'll have to modify the e21 M20 motor mounts (early model steal) or fabricate new.. I'm on my second s50 (euro) m50 (US) transplant. You'll also have to modify the brake booster setup. Google e21 Baur s50b32 and follow the links.

If anyone is interested. I have an engine that I just pulled out of my 1997 328is. Has some extra goodies like m3 cams, m50 manifold, long tube headers, shark injector, euro oil filter housing. Its in the classified with some pics unless I screwed up the links.
