Rusty Rotor Hubs
The hubs on my brand new rotors are already starting to rust.
I must admit that I've never worried about that before or bothered to clean them up on any car. But, These looked really nice behind my wheels. I'm going to sand them with fine sand paper to clean them. But, does anyone have a favorite product to spray coat them with to prevent it from happening?

Don't worry about the friction surfaces. The rust will go away on the first brake app.
If you are fastitious, remove the rotors, clean with metal prep and acetone, mask off the friction surfaces, and blast on a layer of hi-temp paint.

Yeah Ed. I'm not worried about the friction surfaces, I just want to keep the hats looking new as possible. These were supposed to be, "rust resistant", but, the resistance was pretty spineless. Now they have developed a lite rust patene that shouldn't be hard to remove at this stage.
Thanks. Jim |

Hello Jim. I painted the hats of my rotors to avoid that nasty rust look. As a result, the wheels slide in and out easier as well, not getting stuck in the grit formed by the rust. Better do it now before the big snowfall, followed by salt from the road maintenance crews & the formed slush.
Here's a shot (hard to see, because they're black like the calipers):
