Finally a purchase of a 2005 740i

Joined up to this wonderful community - been lurking for a while though

I have finally purchased an E65. It wasnt ideal engine wise as i would have preferred a 745i but found a nice low mileage 740i Sport 2005 at a non BMW dealer. Nice service history with the car not perfect but ok. Usual 72 point check stuff + MOT + Service + 12 months warranty so hopefully should be ok.

The main question is i know i bought the car nobody else has - All 740i searches turn up E38 answers - Should i pretend i have an 745i with regards to any issues and DIY fixes etc ?

All searches anywhere seem to indictae 740i = E38 its quite difficult to find answers. I pick the car up on Saturday bt wanted to view ODF manual - I have the US 745i manual PDF style but didnt know if it was the same ?

Also the car has 20" Chrome wheels does anyone know the correct size the tyres should be to ensure the speedo returns semi accurate figures ?

yes... most of the answers will be for the 745... 740 and 745 are almost identical..

Hi, just wondering how the '05 740i is going? Any major drama's like the 02-04 745i owners have??
