New member greatings a nd 325ix tachometer problems
Hello everyone,
I’m new to bimmerfest but not new to bimmers and beemers motorcycles. I just picked up a 1988 325ix. This is the fourth bimmer since 1998. My previous cars were in chronological order an E28 ’83 533i, a E21 ’82 320i, and E24 ’80 633CSi. My current beemer is a ’04 R1150RT. The 325ix I just bought is in good shape. I’m the third owner, the previous had it for the last 18 years. It’s obvious that he took good care. The tachometer is not working for most of the time. Occasionally it does for a few minutes. I’m sure the project is electrical and not mechanical. I had similar issues with my E28 but never managed to get it working properly. Any suggestions of where I can start looking is appreciated. i would start with the SI batteries. most of problems with the cluster starts with the SI batteries
