Bluetooth connection problem

Hey guys, just bought a 2012 328 this weekend and I'm having trouble connecting my iPhone 5 via Bluetooth. The "telephone" feature connects perfectly, and I'm able to get all my contacts etc. However, the "audio" feature didn't seem to configure correctly. When configuring my iphone, the only thing that appears is "Telephone" with a check box to the left of it, not an "Audio" feature. Any advice to get this working? I'd like to play my music from my iphone via bluetooth. Thanks.

Bluetooth Audio is only available with the Assist option.

There is an option called BMW Assist with Enhanced Bluetooth and Enhanced USB.

If that's not on your car, you can't stream music via Bluetooth.

Two ways:

1. Check your window sticker. It's not a free option. You would've paid for it.

2. Above the rearview mirror is a spring-loaded SOS compartment with a secret button in it. If you have the button you have BMW assist.

I would assume that you checked the Audio selection under the Bluetooth menu in the iDrive, correct?

There is a Bluetooth menu with a box named Audio, is that checked?

Can you see your phone in the CD sources besides a BT logo?

It seems to me that your phone A2DP is disabled.

Can you see something like this "Connected to Phone and Media Audio" at your S2 when paired to the BMW?

If not then try this at your S2 (from an Android forum):

Quote:
Settings>>Wireless and networks>>Bluetooth settings>> press and hold the UBTFM and an options menu will pop up. Select options and ensure the Media is checked.

Yes bluetooth is on but no audio through the speakers. Everything is checked.

I've had an issue with Bluetooth audio since I bought my car last March also.

Every time I go from my cradle or iPod function, I have to re-pair my phone to get the Bluetooth audio to work. This happens even when I have the box checked, etc., etc. Luckily I use my cable/cradle with BMW Apps rather than Bluetooth audio. Otherwise I would be highly upset.

My problem is one phone works fine and the other one doesn't although everything is checked as far as the bluetooth menu and the phone being paired .
cheers

Vern,
I noticed in your last post that you said one phone works fine and the other one doesn't. Do you have both phones paired simultaneously?
You can only have one phone selected as primary at any given time. If you have a second phone paired, you have to select which phone you want as primary through iDrive. The second phone will only perform basic phone functions. I've got a Galaxy S2 paired to my car and the music starts streaming as soon as I select bluetooth as an audio input. My only complaint is that the music player on the phone stays active after I've selected another source or left the car. The music is paused, but the app is still running in the background.
Hope you get it sorted.

Finally got the audio to work on the Galaxy S 2 after going through all the steps a few times. In order for me to activate the phone I physically have to dial a number or get the number through voice command, after I do that I can get any number I want through the phone book. My other phone works ok without going through the steps I mentioned. Strange.
cheers
