Good luck, mlevack.

You are a better man than I am. If my CA (or new CA) wasn't responsive after I spent the significant amount of cash on a 6 series, I'd be calling the sales manager pretty quickly and seeing what he could do. They owe you an answer.

My guess is your car is pretty close and you will probably see yours before I see mine, as you are in Charlotte. Lets hope we get our cars while there is still a bit of good top down weather....

The sales manager has responded to my inquire today, but with much different news. Even though we all seem to have the same information from WW, the sales manager is reporting different info to me. He is saying that it reached the port on the 8th (which we all know is not the case) and that it has not yet cleared customs. I sent an email to BMW ED as well, hopefully they can give me some good news.

I was doing fine thinking I still had a couple of more weeks, but with everyone reporting they were getting updates and shipment dates I guess I got a little excited. :-)

irianjim - I agree. Im not one to create a ruckus, but I have to admit that I have been disappointed with the lack of communication from my dealer after the sale. No one told me that my CA left, no one responded to emails that I sent to his email address - I had to go into the dealership and be told by the reception desk. 6 series or a used 1 series, they should have contacted me (IMHO) to let me know of a change. The sales manager has said he would work with me directly. He copies the new CA on all of our emails but I have yet to hear anything from the CA directly. If I was a sales rep for a client that just bought a 100k+ car, I would at least call him to say hello - maybe he might buy another one some day or refer a colleague.

Ok, thanks for letting me rant, folks. :-)

FWIW I just checked my other car's record (ED in 2011) and it shows no '1' next to custom release. I've had that car for 11 mos now, so the 'DELIVERED FROM' may be the line that matters....

Thank you for the re-assuring news. It still baffles me that you can get real time tracking for a $10.00 package via UPS, but you have to play guessing games with multiple answers from various sources (WW, BMW, Dealership, etc) for a new car. :-)

I just received an update from BMW ED (Simone):

"Our BMW port facility started to process your vehicle today. Please feel free to check back with me on Wednesday."

Am I safe to assume that she means that it has cleared customs and is at VDC?

I wonder why your car went via Jersey if you are in Charlotte

Got word that one of our 3 cars has made it to the dealer, scheduled for delivery tomorrow! Mine's still at the VPC, but looks like it's about halfway through the process. Hopefully we'll all have them this week!

Yes. They won't start 'processing' your car unless it has cleared customs.

Well, things are looking up. I received the following email from BMW NA's ED department today.

"Your vehicle was released to trucking today. They have by contract two business days to compile a load going to Edmond Oklahoma plus the actual transit time. Hopefully, your vehicle will arrive at Jackie Cooper Imports by Saturday."

So it appears my vehicle cleared the VPC in Brunswick in about three business days and now is being shipped.

I must have gotten ahold of some people or department standing in for the ED bunch that didn't know what they were doing when I had the communication problem earlier. The real people responded in 24 business hours with this news, so I take back all the bad things I was thinking (and said).

Maybe the car will be here for the weekend......

So how long between the ship docking and getting through customs and the VPC?

I am guessing it took either three or five days to get through customs and the VPC, three if they didn't work weekends, five if they did. The ship discharged my car on the 6th at about noon. I think it could have been as early as the 8th (making it two days) because I talked to WW in Brunswick and they told me that the liner release was a release to the shipper (done on the 8th at about 2pm). At any rate, if the info I have is correct it didn't take too long to process - which is good meaning there was no damage to fix!

It is supposed to be in the high 60's this weekend. Maybe I will have the car. We will see. Here's hoping.....

I am curious to know if the Certificate of Origin accompanied the car to the Dealer, so it can be registered.

Actaully, the Certificate of Origin does not come with the car. The dealer provides it and does so independently of the car. The reason I know that because my dealer actually sent me the CO as well as all the documents weeks before my car arrived to the States. I wasn't terribly happy about it because I had to pay the tax and licence before the car got here or pay a penalty......but my car is registered now and taxes paid before it has arrived....

Friends has been delivered, plates made it and car is in great shape! Mine is through the VPC waiting for a truck, and the M5 just got into the VPC. Lots of progress!

When we stopped by the dealer this morning, there was a third party uncovered vehicle carrier there. I spoke to the guy and he said they were doing work for PMTG - I am guessing these guys are overloaded right now and they're doing everything they can to get all the cars out of the VPC as quickly as possible.

GerWil - no certificate of origin. Just the window sticker.
