How to tell if I have BMW Assist services?

I have a 2011 E90 with combox. I have a connected drive menu in my car but I've never used any of it. When I click on local search or any other service it says something about connecting to some service. How do I know if I have this service or not? I know some services are included in the CPO warranty.

Have you tried pressing the SOS button and asking? The rep on the other end can usually tell you. Similarly, if nothing happens, then it would appear you do not.

BMW Assist Services no longer work on pre 2014 cars. They communicate via a 2G cellular network and the cellular carriers have discontinued all 2G service in the US. Unfortunately, at this time BMW does not have the ability to replace the cellular card for a reasonable price either for them or for the consumer.

It was still working couple month ago on my CPO 2011 car. Also I can still send google maps to my NAV so it is not dead.
I think once this expires BMW may no longer extend it but they don't disconnect the existing

The 2G service stops as of January 2017 which is why BMW is not renewing BMW Assist.

I thought they were going to offer an upgrade?

At the current time they are not going to be offering an upgrade. It turns out that price is prohibitive both for BMW (cars in warranty) and for the consumer (cars out of warranty).

A law firm is looking into a class-action lawsuit regarding the BMW Assist fiasco. https://chimicles.com/bmw-assist-pot...ction-lawsuit/
