Hi out their, Just bought an old 730i 1995 with 47k miles. (as the wife keeps useing my 645i) Where are the POLLEN FILTERS on this TANK.?? I have looked everywhere both inside and outside the car. I was just wondering if they needed replacing due to its age. I have changed the oil and air filters. Cheers. Keith

Open the hood and then look towards the area where the hinges are at the end of the hood and there is a hinged plastic cover on each side which contains the pollen filters on each side of the hood, Just unscrew the hinges to expose the filters.

See "microfilter" locations in image below. There is a screw on each exterior cover that you undo...this allows the cover to swing away from the hood...to access the filter.
You probably also have 2 interior recirculation filters, too. They are located on each side of the tranny tunnel below the dash. There are DIYs in the FAQ or search online for "BMW e38 recirculation filters" to find how to access those. They can actually affect the flow of air from the HVAC system if they've gone for years without being replaced: ![]() You can see how caked up the (interior) recirculation filters can get when they go for long periods of never being changed. When they get to the point seen in the image below...they can adversely affect air velocity from the HVAC system:

Pollen Filter Position
MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO REPLIED TO MY REQUEST re. where are the polled filters. 1995 bmw 7. Found and changed. I was handed a receipt from pre. owner stating full service and 4 filters replaced last month ???? No. No. No. It was not a BM Garage but it just proves that good garages that dont rip you off are VERY VERY hard to find. Air and Pollen filters were filthy. SO GLAD THAT I AM ABLE TO SERVICE MY OWN CARS OVER THE 63 YRS ON THE PLANET. And if I am unable to do a job, my mate who used to be a mechanic helps me out. WHAT IS THE ANSWER TO GARAGES RIPPING US OFF ??? ESP. IF ITS JUST A SERVICE. (if you cant do jobs yourself) THE ONLY WAY IS TO STAY AT GARAGE AND WATCH..Quick Fit Garages etc. that have a waiting room and a window so that you can see your car, is the only way I can think of. Many Thanks Again. Keith.
