Probability for errors difference between 02-03&04-05's

Hey all im back again, Still looking to buy a bmw. Got my eye on a 03, 745LI 73,000 for 13,000. and a 05 with 97k for 15,500. Ive read tons and tons already about problems with these early model e65/66's, Although im reading more and more its with mainly the 02. What im wondering is do the 04-05's have much less problems that its worth the extra $$$ to be safe? or a 03 is same problem probability as a 04-05? Thanks all for INFO!

05 is better than 02 and 03 but major problem like weephole ,alternator and trans still present.

They are all prone to the same issues, mileage/maintenance done is more of the issue. That goes for any car. There just happens to be a lot more faults that occur on this particular vehicle. Check for maintenance history and just keep in mind just because you can afford to purchase the vehicle that when something goes wrong if you don't or cant DIY it will get expensive fast, 2.5/3-6k for weep hole, 1-2k for VCGs and spark plug tubes, 4-700 for ask/l7 etcetera etcetera, my advice is to look around as much as possible and make sure you got extra $$$ for maintenance and emergency issues, especially if you aren't an avid DIYer best advice i can offer.

That's what I figured and that's just what I wanted to hear. TY I wouldn't call my self a mechanic but I have done almost everything on my past cars. 88 firebird, exhaust swap headers, intake manifold swap, TB swap, Ended up pulling the motor and throwing in a 350 ect. I can wrench perfectly fine, What scares me is electrical, although everything I have seen even on these forums for electrical problems is "take it to your reputable INDY or the Dealer". I know the problems and Im quite sure I can handle the mechanical problems (need to look more into weephole although ive been following the 95 Tstat thread for 3months!) Also After buying my next vehicle im going to have 2800-3200$ put away just for repairs on this vehicle. I will have other monies but 3000$ will be put away saved just incase for repairs ect.
