I waited a few days to throw her around some curves, but I didn't think there might be some mud in the road from it.
I'm trying to figure out how this could possibly be fixed. The rest of the car seems perfectly straight, but I ripped the front frame bar that's under the radiator in half. If I hadn't busted the radiator and fan, and I think one other fluid resevoir, she'd probably run and could have been driven off. My coverage blows so insurance has nothing do with it aside from towing, but I'm sure they'd total it out. ![]() ![]() ![]() I kinda need some input on this one. Having a shop to all the work is definitely going to be pissing money away, but I think so would be taking her to a scrap yard. What I'm thinking is, get a body shop to replace or fix the part of the front frame that I damaged, and then replace everything else I broke myself, then maybe have a mechanic do anything in that regard that I can. I'm really hoping I didn't damage the engine mounts. |

The cost of repairing that will be more than getting another car!

I took a better look, I ripped the bumper frame. Only dented in the frame around the radiator. Still you're probably right.

If you can do bodywork yourself, then it's worth fixing, otherwise you're better off parting it out, selling it, or keeping as a parts car. Sucks for sure.

You might be able to purchase another car with rear end damage, strip the front end parts and re-scrap the excess. You will need the space to do it in and hopefull cheap/no cost towing. another thought is to simply purchase teh entire front clip down to the fame so to speak. Thant way not dealling may major large pieces to get rid of later.
I would look for the exact same year as your car if possible. However most of the parts up to 94 might work. However the 95 uses somewhat different sheet metal etc.

What exactly makes up the "front clip?"

My understanding it would be the entire front sheet metal, fenders, hood, grill, lights, trim, bumper and associated hardwear. i would think it would also include plastic under fender panels.

the car is a loss mate. the cost in parts alone would be close to just buying another E34.

I have a 94, perfectly straight, blown HG, recent trans re-build.
Sh*t paint, great interior. I don't think you radiator will fit, though... $700.00, it's yours. Hb |

Hah, I blew out the radiator anyway.
Only problem is now I'm pretty much broke. She's just gonna have to sit for a while until I figure something out. Probably in the back of my driveway, covered in a tarp. |

Honestly, as nice of a car it is. It won't ever be the same, it is saveable but you really are thousands deep into that. You basically need a new front clip. Suspension, steering, cooling systems. Bumper beam, core support. But you probably have engine and frame damage to go with that. It's grim bud.

Just to be a doom sayer I would think that needs to be on a body jig 'just to make sure' B4 you get into big $ repairs. If you can wrench then unbolt all the damaged body so you can really see. Sorry bloke, sucks to be you.

Eh. I guess I'll get another one down the road in a year or two.

And maybe keep the hooning off the streets for that one... AutoX's are balls to the wall for a day of all the driving you need for like $60...

Sorry to see that, glad it wasn't any worse though. I noticed from the pics that your car looked to have held up well. No pieces breaking off everywhere, even the headlight looks to be what's left to say "in place".

Start wrenching while you are saving.

She's still in my possession. Repair is still an option on the table, and I'm heavily considering it. I've spoken with one scrapper right now and he was interested until I told him it was a '93, plus I haven't even transferred the title to my name yet, so it's not clear. So that means I've still got to pay sales tax, and then how little I'd get against the cost of towing it to a yard, I just feel better about repairing the car.

repair is off the cards assuming the car is standard.

As in not a tuner model?
I could definitely make some money off parting her out, unlike scrapping as-is. |

No one has quantified chassis rail damage yet (or did I miss that bit?).

Not yet. I need to get the hood off, probably have someone else look at it.
