Exclamation Air Bag Light !

hello Bimmerfest, i have a e85 2.5i convertible, i recently went to go on a little "ride " earlier, but as a started it, the Air Bag light went on, and stayed on, any suggestions what could be the reason for this ? I'm a little mechanically inclined & have a large selections of tools.

This happenned to me shortly after i got mine. I did some research, which I can't seem to duplicate now, and found there was some part, sensor I think, in the passenger seat that was under a recall, IIRC. Anyway, it was almost due for service so I took it to the dealer and it "wasn't that part" wink wink. I don't remember what they did I just remember it cost about $200. Due a search on Z4 airbag light on this forum and possibly on google and see what you come up with, you may have to wade through the bad to get to the good advice though. Good Luck!

I had the problem on my '04. First they changed the seat belt mechanism, it came back. They then changed the airbag on the steering wheel, it came back. Finally, they changed the seat sensor on the passenger side, and I never had a problem after that. Fortunately this was all under warranty....

Mine was the passenger occupancy sensor. They ran the codes, and replaced it. I was lucky that it was still under a used car warranty and only had to pay $100, because the shop billed the dealership about 800.

Good luck!
