Considering a 2013 535xi -Thoughts appreciated
Reposting due to flub of subject line (could not find out how to delete since I am a newbie).
Hi - I am new here and am considering upgrading my 2009 335xi to a new 535xi. Different ride but I spend a lot of time traveling and I think the 5 series are incredibly smooth. I wanted to hear people's perspectives on the cost of the car and the lease term. The car I am looking at is equipped as follows: Carbon Black Metallic (love it)/Black dakota Packages: Cold weather Driver Assistance M Sport Premium Technology Sport Automatic Transmission Multi-contour seats (a must for the amount of time I spend in my car) Premium hi fi Suggested price is $69,570 and the dealer is offering it to me for $66k. Thoughts? (I did complete the test drive and have a $1000 credit so that is included). Also considering a 39 month lease versus a 36 month lease (its actually "owner's choice" since I am in Chicago). Thoughts are appreciated. I have always bought before so this is new to me. Thanks in advance. |

Nappa leather, it's only another $1k.
Build it out at bmwconfig and send to dealers and see who will get the closest to invoice.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do we have a sense of the ballpark of what invoice is?
For example I see i xDrive 4dr All-wheel Drive Sedan $55,400- MSRP $51,150- Invoice But not sure how the added cost of the packages impact that since it adds $14k in my case. Thanks for any insight! Last edited by Dizzy72; 10-18-2012 at 10:43 AM. |

Wow just did bmwconfig and the invoice was $64,150. What a great tool. Is it considered pretty accurate?
I can't imagine my dealer would price much lower than $66k for this vehicle. Are the suburbs better on this point? Also these loyalty incentives etc. do those flow back from BMW to the dealer? Thanks again for the responses. |

Does this really happen though? Strikes me as aggressive especially for big city dealers but this is really helpful for me to realize I am not getting such a great deal!

Send them the completed bmwconfig spreadsheet with your option choices and say "I'll give you $500 over the invoice price"
D4USA is out unless you actually participated in it back before the Olympics........ $750 prior customer is still good as well as $1k back from BMWCCA (go ahead and punch yourself IN THE FACE if you aren't already a BMWCCA member)

Go to the dealership and check out both. I actually don't like the feel of the Nappa leather. Now the Novilla in the M's...that is REALLY nice.

Sure, it happens all the time. For example, I bought my 2012 535xi in May this year and I got about $2000 below invoice and I didnt even have the $1000 BMW drive for USA credit. However, BMW did have a $2500 option credit at that time. I believe currently, there is a $750 loyalty bouns if you qualify. My guess is that you will start to see some option credit available for the 2013 5 series in a couple of months if you can wait that long. Good Luck.

Dizzy, in Chicago, you should absolutely be able to do better than the $66K being offered to you. Oh, and Dizzy, bmwconfig is accurate, but you have to add the MACO (regional advertising fee) to get the true invoice. MACO should be around $400, so if bmwconfig spit out $64,150, "true invoice" should be around $64,550. Last edited by CMills; 10-18-2012 at 04:22 PM. |
