Dangers of welded rims
I hit a pothole and my Asa rim cracked and dented near the lip, I am getting it welded at a shop but is it dangerous to drive it....what are some dangers?!

What could happen?...... maybe nothing, slow leak in tire, tire blowout at speed, total rim failure and car will pull violently in direction of bad wheel.... possible loss of control of the car. I wouldn't risk driving car with that wheel until you get it fixed, especially at highway speeds. Do you have, or can you get a spare to use until you get it fixed/replaced?

Bob, I believe he's asking if its safe to drive with a repaired wheel, not one currently cracked.
OP, I had a set of 3 wheels straightened with two of them getting small welds to repair cracks. I used the wheels for about 6 months with no issues. If the shop is competent there should be no issues. |

Yeah the welder guy said it was cheap aluminum metal but he would see if he could do it, if he can then I'm good, if not its a new rim I guess
