Anti-sway bars

Does every 5er have anti-sway bars? Thanks.

Yes, either passive or active (ARS).

Is there much difference in effectiveness between the two?

Very large difference. The ARS will keep the car very flat up until about 0.5g of long. acceleration, then progressively start to let the car roll.

The other large difference is the fact that while driving straight ahead, the anti-roll bars are disconnected, which makes for a very smooth ride.

Now, whether you like it or not is another story. Personally, I think it feels all a bit artificial. Some people think it's a great performance option. I point to the M5 and say...if it's such a great performance option, why hasn't the M5 got them?

If I'm not mistaken I think pharding owned an E60 M-sport and by that should have first hand experience of how great ars is when coupled with sporty springs/dampers. It's the tuning of all three that makes for a great setup and where you really can experience the full potential of ars. With mushy springs like the F10's DDC you still get the flat cornering but you also get a floaty feel. However if you omit ars it gets even worse with float and roll unless you get the M-sport steel suspension where you remove float but are left with roll due to weak sway bars in a very heavy and large car. Best would be M-sport passive suspension with ars where you would have neither float or roll but BMW do no let you have it so pick your poison.
