Need a lift for E61 fog lamp replacement?

I've got a 2006 530xiT with front fog lamps. Getting a malfunction message on the driver side. From reading previous threads, it looks like I need access to a lift to get under/behind the lamps to replace them - am I reading threads correctly? Thanks.

Lift is not necessary. There are couple of ways to reach fog lamp bulbs. One way is to remove the headlight assembly and the other way is to remove the splash shield in front of the front wheel.

No, You can do it without a lift. There are 4 connectors that hold the outer cover in place that have to be removed and then you can lower the outboard cover to gain access to the fogs. I've done it, takes about 30 minutes or so each side. See link here: http://forums.5series.net/e60-discus...4/#post1235942
