used 550i with a problems that have been fixed. Good deal?

Hello,

My coworker is selling his 2007 550i that's fully loaded except winter package. It has 85k miles. It was in a minor accident with rear end damage but that has been fixed. The following has been done to the car.

1) Engine cover gasket
2) Vanos sealent
3) Oil level sensor
4) All 4 brakes and rotors

He said spark plugs need to be changed at 100k miles but that's about it. Would you guys buy it for $16,500? Thanks.

I would recommend getting the service report from the dealer to see whats been worked on. I have heard that BMW's can have frame damage easily because of its unibody construction so thats another thing to look for. That is a good price but spending that much on a BMW and then finding something wrong down the road would not be a fun thing for me.

Ask yourself this.....

Can you afford the maintenance on a 6 yr old $70,000 car?

Cause that's what it boils down to.

Plugs aren't bad if it's anything like the 545i (took me like an hour)

Get the service history.

There's always a bit of a chance when you buy one of these outside of warranty. Some of them just have small things over the years, others are a nightmare that will cost you more than you'll ever want to spend. With the service history, maybe you can get an idea of which way this one has been thus far anyways
