alee's first ED - 4/20/2013

2013 E92 M3, week 15 production
Jerez Black, Silver Novillo Extended Leather, All Options

Planning an ED/PCD combo delivery, 4-20-2013 pick-up
Jon Shafer (who else!?!) is taking care of me -- so I sleep well at night.

The obsessive compulsive journey begins with the arrival of the ED packet...

And just like that, my EDPO appeared. Signed and executed. Ready for the big check in a few weeks.

Hi there, congratulations on your new bimmer, sounds like a gorgeous config. I had a quick question for you. When you say ...."EDPO appeared, signed and executed....", what do you mean? I signed the EDPO (that 5 page document that you need to notarize) with my dealer a couple of weeks back. Is that what you are referring to? Did you get anything back from BMWNA after that?

Thanks,
DD

Congrats on your new M3.

I noticed that you're on the East Coast and you ordered your car through Jon from California,
where will you have your car re-delivered? Through a local BMW center? If so, how does
that work?...will you have to deal with a local Client Advisor also? Or are you having
it done through the Performance Center?

Yeah the 5 pager. No idea if I'll get anything back... just sent it off today.

Performance Center Delivery. He actually offered to arrange a courtesy delivery from another dealer, but I figure if I'm doing ED I may as well go all in on the VIP experience.

Nice, congrats! I'll be picking up my Space Grey F10 535i (First ED) on the day before. Happy Travels through Europe and maybe I'll run into you when I come back for the car on Saturday or impatiently later in Spartenburg!

The EDPO has not needed to be Notarized for a few years now...

Sweet! I'll be doing my pickup three days after yours, the same morning as Prost. I'm seriously hoping for weather conditions good enough to get me through the Brenner Pass on summer performance tires. Good luck with your trip and with your new M3.

In Canada we don't get any of this sh!t. It's as if they say "thanks for your money, we'll give you more information when we think you need it an we feel like getting around to it". The sales guy I bought the car from has been trying his best but getting info from BMW Canada is like pulling teeth. It's really disappointing. I'm putting out all this money, going on a trip that I am really excited about and nee the help of BMW before I plan, and their handling of the process has turned my excitement into worry and concern about whether they're doing their part or if they even care that their client is the one driving the process they offer.

Saying BMW Canada has done the bare minimum during my ED is actually an overstatement. They told me I'd be charged $800 if I drop the car off outside Germany. Not one document they provided me with or that is available online says anything about a $800 charge to drop outside Germany. It's as if they're unwilling to cover any cost other that what BMW AG demands they cover. I'm still excited about the trip because I have educated myself about the process and this site has really helped. And I am gracious to the CA at BMW London for working hard and taking up my cause. But thus far I have nothing good to say about BMW Canada.

Thank you very much I will do that. Maybe I will also attach them in a strategically worded email to BMW Canada so they can see what they're not offering.

You can sleep easy at night. We Yanks may get a nice packet of paper from BMW but Canadian men live 3 years longer on average than American men. So I'd say you are still coming out ahead.
