Thoughts on Dealer Price for 2012 X5 Diesel
Aloha everyone, i wanted your thoughts on my recent price quote for a 2012 X5 Diesel to be built. The price is as follows: $59,960 for black metallic, tobacco seats, sport activity package, premium package, premium sound package, tech package (i had to have the HUD!), 20" tires, running boards, lane departure warning, and BMW apps. This price does not reflect a trade in or money down or even taxes. The dealer stated it was about $850 above invoice. I think i can get a little lower on the price then negotiate on the trade in. Any thoughts? I thought about adding the active drive to the list so if anyone has this feature, i would appreciate your opinions. Mahalo!

figure out the msrp and invoice prices for YOUR order. Dont ask us to calculate it to figure it out for you. Subtract all the incentives, then compare it to the dealer offer. 850 is an OK deal PROVDED you are keeping the incentives.

Ard, thanks for the reply but i am not asking anyone to do any calculations for me. No where is that stated in my post. I already know the MSRP and invoice price and I conducted a great deal of work to get to this point. I am simply asking others if they had similiar pricepoints. Thanks.

that's a pretty good deal, considering that my '12 with sav, premium, running boards, spare tire, cold weather, and AD was $59k after $4500 eco credit and $1k Olympic drive.
Why aren't you getting Adaptive Drive? Granted it's $3500 but i would get that before all of the electronic add ons you have listed or the 20" wheels. but that's just my preference, my name won't be on your registration |

May need more information. My '12 didn't have the tech pkg, running boards or apps and invoice was $60,745 so it looks like there is something "odd" about your figures unless they include some discounts (somewhere in your figures). Ignore the Adaptive Drive. Too expensive for what it is...my opinion.
As comparison, my "sales price" after all discounts ended up being around $55,904.30 for a total of $9,840 off the original MSRP of $65,745 which included $4,090 (Dealer discount) + $4,500 (Eco Program) + $750 (Loyalty Program) + $500 (BMW Facebook Apps). Note: No military in this or related households so I was not able to benefit from the USAA credit. Of course, I then added other things to it like the hitch, the spare tire kit & then swapped out tires to the Continental DWS all seasons.

I ordered mine 2 weeks ago, and the sticker with all options is $67,695 and the final selling price with all incentives and rebates is $56,710. I negotiated 1k over invoice, then $4500 eco credit and $2500 USAA rebate, plus I get the 1k back from BMW CCA that's not in this number.
It was a great deal so I pulled the trigger. Packages: Sport Acitvity Cold Weather Premium Premium Sound 20" Sport Wheels Multi-contour Seats running boards |

OP, what is your invoice price and what incentives other than Eco do you qualify for?

The $59,960 does not account for the $4500 eco credit, my $2500 USAA rebate, trade in, and down payment. Not quite there for the loyalty credit. I did get a military pricing sheet for the 2013 which brings a pricepoint of $60,000 and some change for an X5D with the same build i listed for the 2012 but i am afraid i will not be able to get the eco credit or the USAA rebate with the 2013.

Incorrect. You just have to be approved by BMWFS (i.e. your credit app has to be submitted and approved).

Ndabunka,
Bueler! Nice one. I called her to reaffirm the details and she said the $59K factors in the eco credit but not the USAA credit so the price minus the credit brings it to $57,460 (minus trade-in and downpayment). This does not factor in taxes and tags for the state of MD. The figure also had a $850 destination charge that i am going to argue against as i am picking it up in Spartanburg. She just sent the full sheet over email so i have all the details. |

Good luck with getting them to waive the destination charge!

Glad you appreciated the humor! The price makes more sense now if they are ALREADY counting the eco credit. Add the $950 for the 20-inche wheels and your price is right IN LINE with what everyone else is paying. Enjoy!BTW - You are not going to be able to get them to waive the destination charge. It is one of those things that is included in the INVOICE price that everybody already points out is "non-negotiable" (at least I have never heard of anyone being able to gt that waived since BMW North America forces all dealer to pay that fee no matter WHERE the truck is picked up from).

My Golf TDI was stolen which put me in the market for a new car. I have wanted the X5d for a while.
Just bought mine yesterday, MSRP was $68,395 with most everything except the Premium Sound. Final price after $4500 ECO etc was $55,395. I used my own financing (Navy Federal Credit Union @ 1.79%) I can tell you these 2012 X5d's are getting hard to find configured the way you want. I'm not sure when the 2013 would be available but since they are no change I went with the '12. I love it, I'm so glad I finally did it. |

That sounds like a great deal. My dealer told me that the 2013 x5d goes into production in dec 2012 and can be ready by early or mid dec. My consideration on ordering to 2013 was primarily because of the consideration of the resale value after xx years. The perception of the 2013 v.s. 2012 might be worth a few thousand dollars when I sell it later. Just my 2 cents Any chance of sharing the detailed option specs? |

I messed up the MSRP, here is a more accurate breakdown.
MSRP- $57,700 SPORT Activity Package $2200 Premium Package $3500 Technology Package $1700 20" Alloy Y Spoke wheels $950 Running Boards $300 Multi Contour Seats $900 BMW Apps $250 Destination Charge $850 Total MSRP- $67,395 Not that it matters but Alpine White with the Oyster Nevada Leather. They sold it to me for $55,395 and I added the extended maintenance for $2495.

Pulled the trigger 2 week ago and placed the order. Worked in the sports activities package, with the USAA discount it came out to $55750 before tax and title and fees.

Do you like you X5 diesel? Thinking about the X5 diesel. Have a 2006 750Li now and was originally looking to replace it with either a 2010 750Li or a new 535. But the x5 diesel seems pretty nice. I was concerned about staying with the 750 series because I had paint problems and now valve issues. The 535 seems kind of small coming from the 7 series. What's your opinion?
Thanks |
