Realistic Pricing
I figured this is the place to ask since its the only board actual a dealers.
We see people bragging all over the forums about how they paid X amount over invoice (usually in the 500 to 1000 range). I don't know if the situation is different in Canada or what, but either way, do you buy it? Are these deals really going down or are these people full of it? I ask because in January I am going to start shopping the 335 for a Euro Delivery and of course I am going in with the expectation to do as well as I see others claiming they did. This could lead to a lot of wasted time if what I read here is BS, so I am hoping you can give me some info on what I can expect and if you have seen/negotiated pricing like what people claim on the forums. The last thing I want to do is drive around the province and end up walking out of showrooms trying to get a deal that was never there in the first place. Thanks |

First, please accept an apology from me on behalf of all the members and dealer sponsors as we were not able to quench your thirst for knowledge as quickly as you desired.
I would say that most people who talk about any discounts are probably just full of it and you should not expect to get any when you talk to the dealer. In fact, I would urge that you NOT do the following (as it's really a waste of your time). 1. Do not e-mail 2-3 dealers in your area asking for their best price over invoice. 2. Do not research the internet in order to find out what the invoice price is on the car that you want. 3. Don't waste your time with forums like this one. Most people here are drunk and are just messing with you (have you seen Ard post)? The best approach that you should take is to walk into your closest dealer, offer to pay MSRP, and insist that they throw in the the car mats for free. Good luck.

I mean come on 12 hours is more than enough time to get a response from a dealer. Its not like they have other customers, deliveries, paperwork or families. I thought this forum is live chat, instant responses from all the board sponsors standing by at attention.
OP, check the stickies, read the forums, check the wiki for ED and send an email to one of the board sponsors and you will get straight talkin-No B.S. responses. Posting that second comment requires members to give you CRAP and lots of it.

OP...its the last week/weekend of the month so most of us are swarmed...we do not read every new post that pops up...also, looking at your location (Canada) I will not be able to provide you with a truthful response because I do not work in your market. But to answer your question...is it possible to get the deals you see on the fest?...it's possible but again its far from the norm even for the US market

Yes - but with caveats. Who knows what other fees they paid (doc fees vary), if they purchased other things like high markup lease coverage plan, had a trade in to offset, were repeat clients etc.

Wow, Chris. Have you actually purchased a new BMW and enjoyed an ED delivery 6 years of the last 7? If so, amazing.

I am talking about the US market. You can get a very good deal but will struggle with an excellent deal. Those depend on how much the dealer needs to sell the car and other factors like how popular the current model is etc.
I was able to get 1k and 750$ over invoice and this does include no doc fee and no other hidden charges and all the rebates I was aware off. I think 500$ is hard to get at least where I am (didn't see any dealer yet that would do it) and some of the deals I saw here showed 500$ but then a very high doc fee probably 250$ above what it should have been which is just additional profit. Personally I also don't sweat it for 250$ to 500$ difference on a 40k+ purchase but try to get a good deal without probably squeezing the last bit out. |
