Dunlop Runflats

Reading alot of mixed reviews of the Dunlop 20" RFT that come with the M sport Pkg. Where are they made? Can't find the info anywhere.

What's are you reading?? I'm guessing more bad than good.

Yeah, quite a few complaints about bubbles, tears, ect and comments about ride quality, noise,ect. Not that we have any choice, this is the 20" tire BMW uses. What do you show for the country of manufacture?
Just curious.

Haven't had any problems (10 mos owning). I've hit some nasty pot holes. Thought for sure I'd get a bubble or ruin tire. But no.

Ran both sets to 2/32nd with no issues.

Mine arrived with the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT. Has the stamp Made in Germany.

You probably know my feeling on RF's. My next set will more than likely be Non RF, Pilot Sport 2/PS2.

Well that's good to know, at least they are German. Dad recently bought a 12' Benz E350 with Continental tires -made in CHINA ! Already had to replace 2 of them due to defects & a puncture.

I have immediately replaced EVERY set of runflats on my cars with PS2's - until experiencing the Dunlops on my 650. If this were an M5/6 I would have jettisoned the Dunlops, but was pleasantly surprised on the ride and handling qualities of the stock RFTs - they're okay to pretty good. I'll run them 'til they are gone and then likely switch to the non-RFT Michis.

Until I have an issue, I think I'm sticking with the RFT Dunlops. I won't argue that they have merits over other non-RFTs (except for the run flat thing), but I find them sticky enough, cushy enough, and durable enough for my taste. I'm sure other tires may improve upon the abilities, but, for now, I'm taking the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ideology.

No question, I will do the same. Given we don't have any other choice when buying the car, and the cost of "20 performance tires, best thing to do.

Was happy to see the German stamp as well. Not sure the 20" wheels with run flats is a great combo.

Agree, love the 20's but wish they shipped with standard tires and a spare.

BMW is too proud. They've been at the forefront of promoting these things over the years. I think pride more than anything is keeping them on this path. The ///M people are just special, I guess

I had the 20" RF's replaced with Michelin Pilot A/S prior to delivery. No regrets.

Less Weight
Better Handling.
Lower Replacement Cost.

What did that cost you after the swap if you don't mind saying. Did they credit you for the dunlops?

Made the swap part of the purchase agreement. No additional costs.

Might have to try this, I was going to buy super sports either way, but it would be nice if I can put it on the dealer.

Great deal - how did you handle the spare issue? Flat kit?

No spare or flat kit. If I get a flat I 'll call BMW Road Service and wait at the nearest bar.

Sounds like a plan !

Specified tires I wanted and had dealer order them from Tire Rack.
