New Member Z4 Top Motor Replacement

Hello Fellow Bimmer Drivers. I have been reading some of the threads for a awhile. I bought a 2004 Z4 3.0 in March (didn't buy a warranty). Had about 46,000 on it. Now about 51,000. Top motor failed so I have been following Shipkillers repair proceedures. Tops out and ordering new parts. I found an OEM Dealership in Maine who was selling the motor on Ebay for $325. From what I can tell there are some knock-offs out there and I wanted to get an OEM part. I am also replacing the noise shroud around it. It was soaked and rusty and I want to get the repair kit as shipkiller suggested. Couldn't find those parts on Ebay. Looking. I asked the guy at the dealership about selling me those including the motor but he wanted retail for everything so I ordered the motor from Ebay. Shipkillers directions are very helpful. I did do a couple of things differently that helped. 1. Cut a two ft. piece of PVC pipe that helped me pry the top loose. 2 I also took all but 2 10mm screws out of the loop without getting into the trunk. I also had an extra fitting with a wire on it on each side which was different from the picture. The watermark line on my motor pump housing was pretty high but my hole was clear. I have determined that tape the factory wrapped arround the housing came loose and settled over the drain hole. The tape came out however when I lifted the top out. (Factory Defect?) The red handle pump release didn't work. But the cable and arm are working fine. Gotta figure that out when I take the pump apart. Do I need to buy extra Hyd. Fluid? Does anyone know where to get the pump repair kit and insulation shroud at reasonable cost? Thanks.

$325 is not bad at all.

Thanks SC2003Z4. Dealer wanted $118 w/out shipping. I'll save about $35 bucks.
