Update on the N55 Stage 1 Tune
After a few weeks I can confirm this is well worth it. I have a Burger Motorsports Stage 1 Tune. I cannot attest to the exact horsepower gain, but It may be as high as 40 hp and a decent torque increase too. Here are my further observations.
1) This fundamentally changes the car's characteristics. It just feels better with more torque. 2) There are no side affects that I can determine. 3) When you punch it while travelling normally, it goes like hell.

How much is it and is it covered by BMW warranty?

About 379 for stage 1 and 529 for stage 2.
15min install and it is Not covered by warranty. Guys on the 3 series have been running this for years and just take it out before going to the dealer. From what I've gathered this piggyback tune nets about 20-30whp and 50-60wtq. I have S2 and the difference is noticeable immediately and feels like the 535 lost a few hundred pounds when accelerating. Alan

I used these tunes on my 335 and never had a problem. Considering the stage 1 for my F10. I don't think the stage 2 is for the F10, just 3 series N55.

Stage 2 works on the F10 N55. They just recently released it and there are about a dozen people who are using it now.

Sounds good. Can we talk you into taking a few pics during the install? (and of course a review of the performance difference)?

He stopped answering my PMs after he told me to swing by his place tomorrow. Then I finally looked at his FS thread & it was sold/installed in someone else's car already. People nowadays. This is the type of stuff I expected on ClubRSX(which Im a vendor on)/other Honda forums. Not this one. Disappointed to say the least. |

Ouch! Sorry to hear it. Are you going to snag one from Terry himself?

No warranty. I don't think you will ever need one. This is a fantastic upgrade.

So, I may consider the Stage 2 update as well. But the stage 1 seems just so seamless, and non-intrusive. It is great. For those reading this thread, if you want something easy, realatively inexpensive, ($379 plus $30 for a USB connection.) this is it. It will alleviate any issues with the Audi A6...LOL

Peter:
Did you have any throttle delay or un-responsivemess previously, and if so, has it fixed it? My car seems to like to ignore rapid requests for throttle..... I tried the sprint booster and that works, but it makes pulling away a herkey-jerkey nightmare.

On the highway when cruising, if I wanted to really move it, I would have to get fairly aggressive with the gas peddle and then it would really move. Now, there is definitely more torque so it is very responsive there with a modest press of the gas. From a start, I never had a big delay, but like many cars, even my Porsche, the way the drivetrain engages... I couldn't spin the tires if I floored it. It was not a delay per se, but a soft launch if you will for a fraction and then take up. But the car always moved ahead. If I floored it, it would launch ahead but the sensation is something like this graph that I made up....it is not a depiction of real engine performance just me trying to illustrate how it felt before my tune ![]() If I engaged a little more modestly it accelerated smoothly and in every day driving, I never noticed a lag, or hesitation, it just went. Now, the car is noticeably stronger off the line. Even a modest press of the gas pedal and you move away briskly. If i floor it, I still get a softer launch for a fraction and then ...wooosh, the thing takes off like a bandit. It really really moves. At absolute full throttle there is a fraction of delay between 1 and 2 shifts, but it doesn't bother me. Now I rarely floor it. Don't need to.

I don't think the wheel controls are fully functional at Stage 2. In stage 1, there are no wheel controls, but if you get the UBS connection you can control from there for a modest bump-up from the stock chip settings.

According to Terry, there are no wheel controls 'yet.'

So if I want to go down the road here with a JB4, what TMAP would I order for my 2013? It looks to me that it should be the Harness B, but I would want to make sure. Thanks, DL.

So if I am reading all this correctly, install is easy and removal for service is easy as well. Looking at the instructions on Burger, it looked like there might be some harness left behind when uninstalling for service. Is that a true statement? I would just want to make sure that there is no way for the dealer to know that I have one going when I take it in for service. Thnaks, DL
