Overheating?

My 95 325i likes tries to overheat and it moves the needle from half to like 3/4. But it goes down after I take the foot of the gas. What could be wrong? Thermostat?

Did you check for air trapped in the system?

+1 for a proper bleeding of the system. If this issue has popped up after working fine for a while, you may have a leak that is introducing air into the system.
