New pic of my RR Ghost, aka Big 7 Series :)

Congrats! A beautiful car indeed. If you wouldn't mind describing their customer service in a bit of detail I would greatly appreciate it. How were they different from the sea of other options. I am always interested in finding out how one car dealer differentiates oneself from his/her competition. Another reason for my asking is because I went to a Porsche Dealer near Boston recently in search for a 911 for myself and was treated with indifference, possibly due to my age being younger than the average Porsche owner, so I walked out very disappointed. I was seriously considering a 911 at the time but that experience along with another really soured my tasted.

I am on the younger side as well, especially for being a Rolls Royce owner. My spouse and I have had 2 Porsches over the years (a 2006 911 Cabrio and 2009 Turbo Cabriolet). We used Downtown L.A. Porsche and Porsche Beverly Hills. Both dealers treated us very well, but Downtown L.A. was a little nicer for service, but Beverly Hills sales was as good as Downtown.

Rolls Royce is red carpet treatment all the way. From their attitude, to the loaners provided, to the personal attention and immediate response from the Service Advisor (there is only one Rolls Royce advisor, and one Rolls Royce manager at Pasadena Rolls Royce).

It's funny, where we live you can see EVERY DAY Ferraris, Lambos, dozens of Turbo 911 Porsches, Astons, etc, etc...But I have seen 2 Rolls Royce's in 5 years living here. Crazy!

I was seriously floored, when I found out the front grille alone is $20,000!!! Fingers crossed, if it ever needs replacing...it is done on someone else's insurance policy!! LOL

Come down from Calabasas to BH on a Saturday night. If you don't see 7-10 RR's over the course of a night I'll be very surprised

For sure probably!! Before we moved to Calabasas, we lived in Beverly Hills for 7 years (right off Sunset Blvd.). We went to lunch a few months ago in 90210, and we drove the SLS AMG. We saw THREE within 5 mins!!! How is that even possible? Being honest, I've never seen more than 2 Rolls Royces at any given time in 90210.

Your garage is pure car porn, and certainly most of us are seriously envious. I cannot even dream of a collection like yours. May I ask what you do for a living? A real life Ari Gold?

Haha, I suppose there are the days when I see 3 SLS AMG's all in a row, and then don't see any cool cars for a few days. I guess all the rich people come to hang out all at the same time

Why'd you decide to move up to Calabasas? I've only been there once, but it was just too hot for me. Gotta stay next to that ocean breeze or I'll melt

How did you like the SLS? There are a few in the Palisades that I see often. It's got a great exhaust note, I'll give it that.

How much is the brushed hood option?

Thanks Yeah, it is car porn for us too!! LOL

We own a medium sized electronic manufacturing company in Burbank, CA. We do all our own work, including motherboards and assembly! We do NO China/out of country outsourcing. All our work is done in CA; all our materials are USA sourced. This is something we are very proud of, and something that is very important for the USA!

I think it is about $8,000. On the Phantom, it is actually stainless steel. On The Ghost, it is semi-matte paint. I wanted it very badly, when at first I wanted Diamond black or Tungsten Metallic (dark, bluish gray metallic). But when I knew I had to have metallic silver....the matte sliver painted bonnet/hood would look awful and just so bad with a glossy, metallic silver car.

Calabasas is very hot, but it is very beautiful too. And we are actually quite close to Malibu...just a quick & scenic and gorgeous drive thru Malibu Canyon or Kanan. Cleaner air, much less traffic than Beverly Hills, great restaurants, high performing schools, and lots of fun local car dealers

I'm curious to know what you do for a living.you have mentioned all exotic luxury cars. The rolls in the silver looks beautiful

Agreed, it wouldn't look good on silver because it would just mix in.

I do like the stainless look on white and black and I didn't know they used paint for the Ghost and not an actual stainless steel hood, I guess if your car didn't come with the option you could always use vinyl.

Thanks. I like the look of the S-Class clock, but the Audi A8 and Lexus LS look too plain & a little boring! I honestly do not use the clock very often in my RR, as the digital clock on the Navigation Screen is easier to read from the driver's seat than the mechanical clock. But...passengers love the clock, and it actually gets commented upon, quite often. It is a very elegant and beautiful clock. Thanks again

Thanks for sharing. I suspect some readers with nationalistic sentiments will point to the inconsistency between the above statement and the car choices, but I am with you!

Even VW Passats seem to have it so its ridiculous imho for BMW to omit this option through out its series.

We support the USA a lot. Love this country and "most" of the people, LOL. We own a Ford Raptor F-150 truck and LOVE, LOVE it!! But, for our high end toys, a Lincoln or Cadillac is NEVER going to cut it! I mean, never!!!

Well I don't want to cross any lines but you pay your taxes and employ people. Those are the most important things imho.

And one last request. Can you upload a couple of pics of the infotainment/nav. Is it the regular CIC from BMW or upgraded/enhanced somehow.

There must be something "made in America" on or in the RR ghost that you can lay claim to

As for the idrive, it's the same idrive unit as the f01 but different interface and graphics which is tailored to the Ghost. I am curiosity if there's any other options on the Ghost idrive that aren't enabled on the f01.

Yes, it is the latest iDrive that the 2012/13 F01 has. I do totally love that the owner's manual is available thru iDrive (like the 7)...and there are very cool, 3D videos/movies that you can click on, that describes the cars features (a talking, interactive owner's manual). It"s really fun! The Navigation is also available in really cool almost 3D dimensional graphics.

Also, there is a Spirit of Ecstasy menu in the iDrive. You can set her to Automatic, which corresponds with locking & unlocking the car, or always up or always down and you can raise or lower her, even in Automatic setting. Fun too!
