Black or ivory napa with carbon black?

Ordered black but seriously stressing about changing to oyster before hitting production. ED on Seot 24!

Opinions about black vs oyster? Durability? Staining?

Amaro Brown -- go for it! I have it with Azurite Black (very dark, like CB) -- gorgeous IMO. Otherwise stick with black, I think you'll be sorry with white, after a year or so. How about Mocha Nappa - no additional charge, and not black.

I had that color in my 2008 and LOVED IT! Not available in 2105, but had not considered mocha. Not weird with dark blue?

Blue (Imperial, Carbon Black, or Azurite) exterior and Mocha leather look fantastic together!

Amaro is available in 2015, Individual interior, as it always has been. Plus, Mocha would add some warmth over total black.

Gotcha- my first Bimmer was special ordered and canceled by another buyer - my good fortune! It had the amaro and I didn't even realize it wasn't a standard option! I do hate to KNOWINGLY pay an extra $2k for it, but I do love that color!

I have carbon black with ivory and love the contrast. Receive compliments all the time from passengers. I was warned about wearing denim and having it stain but I assure you I wear jeans just about everyday and after 9 months it still looks new (daily driver).

In reality, carbon black is much more black than dark blue. (It's a fantastic color - you see the dark blue highlights only in certain light.) Consequently, carbon black over mocha nappa is a terrific combination, he said immodestly.

If you want a lot of contrast, I'd go with ivory instead of oyster. If not, I'd go with mocha.

Black over black is gonna be pretty...black.

Carbon Black and Ivory would be my choice, great color contrast between dark and light. And highly thinking of this color combination in my next 5 Series. I also think Dark Graphite and Ivory would also look great, just my 2 cents.

I have Ivory and I will probably be the last time I go with this color. It looks great in photos but in person the color is more tan/yellowish than white. There is also 3 different shades of Ivory inside of the car. The door panels is one shade, the seats another, the center console yet another. Its a nice color but i would have preferred it to be more white than it really is. Maintenance is high obviously so don't even think about it if you aren't the type to take care of it at least every couple of weeks. Leather Master leather cleaner and protection cream has kept my interior flawless so far.

Mark- totally unrelated question on the standard seats. Do the headrests tilt forward and back (like they did in older bmws)?

They more "slide" forward and back. I think the multi-contour headrests might be similar in this respect. You push a button on the side of the headrest to release it to move backwards. You can pull it forward as you like. So the whole headrest moves, not just around a pivot point, like a "tilt". My standard '11 headrests were made up of two pieces (front/back), whereas my new '14 is a solid single piece.

That is really disappointing to hear that the interior color of Ivory materials are so off between the door panels, seats and center console. What about the lower dash is that yet another shade?

I haven't spent much time in one to notice the different shades of Ivory. But that is good to know!

Yeah its not noticeable if you just sit in the car in the showroom but under different lighting conditions you can see it. I thought it was just my car but there was a thread about this and others reported the same thing. The seats are noticeably more white while the other parts are more Oyster/beigish.

to me, this is exactly what distinguiches Individual leather from Nappa leather (in this case Mocha or Ivory).
Only Individual leather has the so called "extended cirumferences" and particularly when you take a look at the entire center console up to the rear seat area, it fits much more with the black carpet and other black plastic parts.
If you take Mocha for instance, the seats, half of the center console and the doors are in Mocha (at least the color). Ok, and the lower part of the dashboard. But that's all.

I don't know about the inclusion of the word "circumferences", or what that means. Yes my Individual leather is "extended", in that other interior surfaces are leather. However, your description of the Mocha Nappa interior in relation to the console area is wrong. All leather interiors include leather color- matched center console trim.

ok, i translated it freely from the german description but let's agree with "extended leather".
No, Mocha Nappa does not even have the fully colored (Mocha) center console like Individual leather has. It's only the armrest and the thin part (not leather) which is on the left edge of the console. Take a look at some Mocha interior pics and look at the rear A/C console. Individual leather has even the side walls of the console in leather (or at least in the appropriate color). Nappa not.

In terms of coverage, nappa also goes on the seat backs, center console and doors. Individual leather adds the lower dash.

I am very satisfied with my color combination. However, there is a hint of blue hue on the back rest where the back of your jeans hit. Doesn't bother me at all, normal wear and tear.

You are exactly right! I had an '11 previously, standard Cinnamon/Black Dakota, and when I first saw a '14 at my dealer's, it had Venetian Beige. Since the carpets are beige as well in that interior, I remember it had the lower part (side) of the console which matched, and I thought they made a change. That was only because the beige interior is basically monotone. I always noticed my Individual Amaro had the nice matching color wider side console piece, that extends into the lower area in the back seat area. Now I realize the other non-beige colors have black on that lower section -- aha!

My last Bimmer, 2008 550i was Carbon Black on Black Dakota and I loved it, so I am inclined to stick to Black Napa or go with the individual Amaro, and not go with Mocha or Ivory at this point. Hmmm, $2500 to switch or let well enough alone? The first Bimmer I had was a 2004 545i, and it was either Cinnamon or Amaro on Jet Black, loved it also, but that car was cursed. Perhaps on more thought, I will stick with black on black. I love the Ivory though, at least in the showroom, but I know myself. I am too messy and also perfectionist. Any color or mark would bother me, and I would be the one to sit down with a busted ink pen or something. Yes, I'm that girl.

certainly everyone has different tastes and preferences but to me, the leather/exterior combo has the highest priority when ordering new car. I was about to order Azurite Black but after a while I recognized I wanted some few more features in the car so that I decided to go with the initial order, that was Carbon Black and use the price difference for something else. Was thinking about Nappa Mocha but I moved back to Black Nappa. Why? because of the reason I mentioned above + the Mocha color looks better with either pure black, blue, white and silver cars, IMHO. Just my opinion, guys.
Ivory Nappa is out of question to me as I am driving for almost 2 years now a X3 with oyster|black interior and I want darker interior this time.
If I'd have space for more money to spend, I would definitely go for Individual leather.

Carbon Black w/ Black Nappa and anthracite wood trim is maybe too "classic" but at least I am not taking the risk of regretting my decision...that's the point.
