Burning oil
Somebody knows the common problem on the X5. Why burns oil while ideling?

The M54 engines in both my E39 and E53 burn about 1 Qt of oil between oil change (7.5K mi) and that's normal.
I dont know what engine your X has and the problem. More detail would be helpful.

I just bought a 04 X5 with the 4.4i and noticed the same thing....

Burning Oil
There are 2 oils pressure - PCV valves on each side of top of the engine that are probably shot and will cause your BMW to show false oil readings. Cost 19.95 each and take about 20 minutes to put on...stops smoking on Idle and oil irregularities....
