Backfire on deceleration (popping noise)

I've noticed on my 650i Gran Coupe while in sport mode that when I come to a stop I get some "pops" coming from the exhaust...back firing. It's pretty much doing it 75% of the time.
It sometimes only gives me a gurgle with slight popping or an all out relatively loud pop!

Is this normal...anyone else experience this?

I would say that these cars run a bit lean. What you are hearing is a bit of unburned fuel in the exhaust system. I happen to like the sound and unless someone knows better, I wouldnt worry about it.

lol...I enjoy it as well but it's almost too much! Every red traffic light I come to, the car gurgles and pops it's a little out of character for a luxury sedan (I have a 650 Gran Coupe).

I'm just a little surprised that it does it so much! I'll try and get a video to upload.

Ahh, you want luxury sedan, go 7 Series. This is a performance GT that happens to have two extra doors put on it

By the way, you do have M-Sport, correct?

Does yours do that too? I hear a little exhaust but what I mainly hear sounds like transmission/engine whine when I downshift and come to a stop.

And I'm by no means complaining about the backfiring! on the contrary!

I was more curious if this may be a concern.....I'm even considering a Meisterschaft EV....so exhaust noise is like music to my ears!

Yes, I do have the M-Sport pack.

Yepper. 10mm spacers with AC Schnitzer rear spoiler.

I get that noise... I get a booming noise on the upshift and a bit of the gurgle on downshift when in sport mode... Music to my ears.. Beautiful music is what I like to call it.. Haha..

I get the boom on up shift as well...gurgle and pops on downshift...lol pretty sweet soundtrack to my daily drive ;-)

lol. Not sure if this is what's happening here, but the M Sport provides that snap, crackle, pop that we love so much. Not exactly befitting of a luxury vehicle, but I'm okay with that. The F12/13 does a great job ticking the correct luxury and sporty boxes for different aspects of the car.

Greenie, two questions...

1) How much wheel well clearance do you have with the 10mm spacers? When I measured, it looked like 15mm-20mm would work but 20mm would be cutting it really close. I ordered 15mm for rear and 12mm for front (wanted a more staggered look even though 3 mm is barely noticeable).

2) Where did you get the AC Schnitzel spoiler from and what did you pay? Factory direct?

Hockeyman, not sure about the clearance with 10 mm but its fine and by the looks of it, 12mm in the front will also be fine. Spoiler ordered by my dealer for me direct from AC Schnitzer in Germany.
