New car[to me]

Not new to the forum, had a 540i, 6spd. Sold it, just got an '06 M5. Have a quwstion. About two weeks after I bought it, the check engine light came on with elevated emmisions words as well. I changed the oil yesterday, all that went away, is that right? Changing the oil and the check engine light is gone? When I got this car, really wanted a 6spd, just not out there, in my area. Like most, got the 7spd SMG. This thing is going to take time and practice to master. Having the fluid in it changed monday. I knew my 540 well, looking for tips on this beast. Any info is appreciated.
