LED SOLUTION to Third Brake Light Problems Easy
I figured this out pretty cheap and took less than an hour. Added to this thread below as entry 32, but though this might be easier for people to find, as I never found a solution, just figured out on my own.

I used the bulbs from "superbrightleds.com", simply removed the old bulbs and plugged the new LED nulbs in,

I was aware of those, but the wedge base was half the problems I always had. They would get loose, rust, etc... I wanted a way to never have to mess with them again. Hardwired and I suspect 100,000 hours is far more than life of car. But agreed, those work if ok with the wedge twist in bases. Cost is about equal, either way, but takes a little longer in my case of about an hour to never have to do anything again. Actually, I still have 21 extra lights, so could still do another 3 cars.
