Mein Auto: 2014 BMW X3 Xdrive28i
impressed with 328i loaner

I have owned a 2014 X3 Xdrive28i for over a year and so far it has been flawless. I am quite satisfied with this vehicle but ...

Today I was given a 2015 328i RWD as a loaner (1st year service for the X3) and I am quite impressed. That thing can take off and the engine growl is sweet; way more aggressive than my X3. The brakes are also much better than my X3 which I find strange

As far as I could see (on my way from the dealership to work) it does not have the m-sport package but the seats are certainly similar to m-sport seats (for X3s). The steering wheel is also much thicker than the skinny one in the X3.

After this, I was thinking and I could see myself owning a well-optioned 328i (m-sport pkg, premium pkg, driver assist pkg, lightning pkg -> $49k). Interesting!!!!

I have a well optioned 13 328i lease I'm trying to get out of early. You could try one out for awhile without a big commitment ;-)

I will agree they do make a nice commuter car.

Amazing what a few hundred pounds in weight difference can do. As far as the engine growl, its fake, it comes thru the speakers. Its called BMW active sound.

I think I read somewhere some Volkswagen does the speaker sounds too on some cars. I don't see why Tesla can't make a Hellcat Hemi sound if that is how they do it now days.

Better yet, dial in different exhaust sound modes, some day you might want it to sound like Hellcat Hemi and someday you might want quiet like a Lexus

Yep, I've seen gadgets that let you pick the sound. Looks like Lexus even pipes in some sound on the LFA, and BMW on the M5.

We had a new 328i for a week during X3 warranty work. A few times while my wife was cruising the boulevards in the 328i I closed my eyes and realized I felt nothing different from being in my '96 Impreza.
