Secondary air pipe and valve
This pipe runs directly in front of the water pump.
While installing my water-pump, I erroneously removed the bolt that holds on this secondary emissions pipe. Actually while the bolt was out I pulled the pipe forward for a little more clearance to remove the pump. Therefore creating an exhaust leak. When I re-installed the pipe the O-ring no longer sealed.
Note: You DO NOT have to do this in order to remove the pump for those of you who have yet to replace the pump.
I replaced both O-rings and as my OCD dictates, I had to clean and polish the valve and tube. The aluminum polished to a chrome like shine. For those with 99' and earlier models don't bother to look for it. I believe only later models have this secondary tube. BTW, the valve allows hot exhaust to heat the cats upon start-up to emit cleaner emissions. Cold cats don't work as well.
