Lease with ED timing question...

I had posted this question in the Ask amA Dealer forum, but thought it may be appropriate here.

Thank you for the information, Jon. If my lease cannot be hammered out until March, am I able to lock in my ED date prior to March 1, or will I have to wait until the lease terms are agreed to?

Jon (who by the way owns this board) is 100% correct. You can lock in your lease rate no more than 90 days out from delivery. Before then, you can agree upon the purchase price, but until you are within the 90 day window you can't start "residual roulette".

You can lock in your ED delivery date more than 90 days out. The way it works is you submit a form with 3 days you would like to pick up the car in priority order. Sorry, I don't rem what the form is called. BMW will then respond, usually within a week, with a confirmation date, a production number and an acceptance of your ED request. You can submit that form at most 6 months out to BMW, though some dealers will accept them earlier and just not submit them.

Clear as mud?

Awesome. One more point - you're very likely to get the date you have in mind if you submit 5 or 6 months out, just check to ensure that there isn't a holiday or shutdown on your requested date.

If not, spend another day in Munich and enjoy an awesome city.
