Welcoming Home Our New Princess

We took delivery on our new pavement princess yesterday, after a six week long build. I'll tell you what, that build and shipment time is AGONIZING.

Anyway, thought I would share with the community. It's a 2013 X5 xDrive35i Premium with every option except the M sport upgrades and the rear entertainment. I think it looks sexy as hell with the Double Spoke 215 black wheels on it. I wasn't sure I'd like the black wheels on the Alpine White - but I LOVE it.







Anyway, thought I'd share with people that I know will appreciate it. Feel free to ask any questions about the build process or anything else. I've learned a lot over the past couple of months and would be happy to share with the community.

Dealer installed the wheels but not the fender extensions? Did he even mention them to you?

I have the same feeling when I waited for my BMW X5. I don't think I will ever order anything manufactured in Europe. Overall, I am quite happy with BMW X5 custom ordered.

I'm not really a big fan of the fender flares. Do they provide any real benefit outside of the looks?

Yeah, they protect your paint from getting stuff thrown up all over it, plus it looks a lot better then having your wheels stick out past the fenders.

Hmmm...the paint thing is totally valid. Problem is, I really don't like the flared look...

X5 are made in US.

Blacked out grill would complete the look IMO.

So back to this fender flare thing. Any recommendations on where to by flares compatible with the 2013?

I know they are assembled in US. I meant I don't have the patience to wait for an European build BMW.

Usually the dealer will provide them if you're paying for the optional wheels. If not, you can get them from one of the forum sponsors.

Am I missing something here? why are you assuming you don't have the flares? Did I miss a post where you said you don't have them?

Nice ride Snowblitz...I have the same ride (except for the black wheels).

BTW: White is terrible...I know, someone told me so on this forum...

Opti-coat is coming next...Just ordered it.

It's a great ride on the freeway and love that I can get my emails, text, and contacts all from a voice or idrive click. Talking on the phone inside the car has really good clarity, IMO.

I Just need to locate some larger visors as they seem way too short and don't have the extender when you move it to the drivers side window. I get pelted from the sun way too much now. The problem is that I can't seem to find any aftermarket or BMW version anywhere.

You are DEFINITELY missing the obvious. Take a look at his original post. The photos do not show the flares so....(obviously)...he doesn't have them, right?

I thought flares are no longer used on the current X5's? Mine doesn't have them either.

Ours is Alpine White with the Oyster interior and I think it's stunning.

We opted away from the oyster although my wife wanted it...how is yours holding up?

You only get them if you have the 20" wheels from the factory (ZSP or 35i Sport Activity model) or you get color matched ones with ZMP.

There aren't any pictures showing in the first post for me. I'm not an idiot, I wouldn't have asked the question if I had seen pictures.

Ours is a 2011 (June 2010 in-service date). We just bought it in September as a Certified Pre-Owned. It had 31K miles on her then, it has 33K now..

The interior was flawless and still is so far.
