What is your average RPM

What is your average RPM and at what point do you typically shift at?

For me it is usually between 3 and 4k. Driving normally I tend to keep coasting RPM between 1-2k to save gas.

Shifting around 4k when accelerating normally, driving between 2 and 3k. Going below 2k fells like the engine is working too hard, but hey, I have NA engine, not turbo.

I know! A game....max mileage. Holding @ 21.1, also enjoy the considerable boost meth'll deliver. Hey, if mileage isn't the stuff of legend, it is at least respectable for a caged beast.

Step's best experienced in manual mode - getting to the point I don't miss the 3rd pedal. Forgetting the pleasure of feathering torque, slippin' the clutch. Appreciating the automatic in traffic.

well i also have the steptronic and tend to use manual mode, but noticed that it eats gas so much because I'll have it constantly at least at 2k, when in normal D mode it seems to keep RPMS below 2k unless you juice it, so i figured that was best for mileage. i forgot how to get the mileage to show up on the dash and been too lazy to look it up in the manual.

seriously considering a 6MT for the next one

Or, you can SEARCH for it. Is it too much? I think so.

2000-3000 for the auto, 3000-3500 for the manual... Shifts seem less smooth at lower RPMs with the manual.

2000 when cold; 3-5000 at normal operating temp depending on the driving circumstances.

im too important to research things like this, other people do it for me.

2000 when it's cold, once warmed up I'll go 2500-3000 unless I get bored and want to do some fun accelerations

When the engine is cold, I try to keep it between 1-2k RPMs. Once it's warmed up, anywhere from 2-4k RPMs. I rarely go past 4.5k RPM.

Well, I almost never shift up using my paddles beyond 2500 rpm. Usually the auto shifts itself at 1800 or so. I don't like it when it's running beyond 3000 rpm, but you need to keep it over 1200 rpm at least.

Average rpm is probably 1500-1800 rpm.

Around town I like to settle in around 2500 RPM and closer to 3K on the highway. Typically upshift around 3000-3500 (3K max until warmed up), and not often beyond 5K in normal driving. During more recreational driving on back roads, the full rev range is fair game.

Once warmed up, I shift around 4k RPMs. I rarely get the opportunity so manual mode is all about having fun. On rare occasions, I'd go as high as 5-6K RPMs just to hear the engine roar. I also make a point to drive at 3k RPMs for few miles each time...someting about bleeding the lifters and charging the battery that I read in other threads. Even if it doesn't apply to my model, the car feels alot more responsive and fun to drive at that RPM range. If I was looking for a mundane, uneventful commute, I'd be driving a Honda...

Can't say this is something I think about. I just shift when it feels right and of course depends on traffic patterns. If traffic is light I probably shift my MT at 5-6k. Average city cruising rpm would be about 2200 in 5th gear and 2900 highway in 6th gear.
