Does it change the orange back light of the speedo gauges to a white back light? I would like to have this. I have a f30 on the way and did not know about this option.

No problem.

You do not have to have the Technology Package.

You do have to have a "line" such as the Sport line or Luxury line in order to get this feature.

The speedo gauges remain red (orange) no matter the color of the ambient lighting. It's a BMW thing.

There are lights in the following locations that change hue from white to orange based on a setting in iDrive:

Map lights by rearview mirror.
Door sill lights
Door panel lights (see photo)
Footwell lights
B-Pillar uplights

The effect is that the interior is painted in a gentle swath of light, no different than an E90 if you own one of those just that you can pick a color now, not locked into orange.

I go for white because I find it's brighter and different than the last BMW's I've owned.

BJ has a point. My M has a white tach and I find it a bit more comfortable to read. Looks better, too.

Agreed....but he already drives an s4. But then again my previous car was 400/400 to all four wheels amd my 328i is still pretty fun. I would say even more fun at this point.
