Is an oil change preferred at 1200 for 35is Z4?

We just took re-delivery of our Z4 35is with M package at PCD.

We drove 1592 miles in Europe. The whole time, I have been under the impression that we are to get an oil change at 1200 miles. However, this is not a true M car. Does the rule apply or not. And is it a good idea to do anyway?

Guess we drove the same exact route just about! We drove 1,592 miles as well LOL

I did not hear anything about the 1,200 mile oil change - I would say that your dealer should have that information, unless you have it in your manual.

Just curious, what MPG did you get? Last I looked mine said 23.6 avg mpg... and I did not drive slow.

No. It isn't a true M car. You could pay for an oil change, but it is overkill.

FWIW the computer on our Z4 reads about 10% high. Our sDrive20i gets around 26 mpg-US and I do drive slowly.

A break-in oil change is always a good idea. For that matter, you should change all the drivetrain fluids - engine oil, differential, and manual tranny.
