Door locks have went haywire
I own a 1990 535i. I love this car and have had it many years. Lately the doors all lock themselves constantly. The only way I can get in the car is use key on passenger side unlock door and yank it open before it can lock again. They other doors won't unlock. Tried using truck to unlock but that quit working. Can I disable the electronic locks in some way until I can get it to BMW? Or is there another option?

Working from memory the master control for the locks is the driver's door unit. Remove the door trim and check the switches that the lock activate. It sounds like one switch is being closed all the time. Again from memory they work on a cam from the key barrel.

Usually that problem is linked to the drivers side door lock assembly. (As said above). Follow the suggestion given up top. You may need to replace the door handle/lock assy. I have had to do that on two E34s already and my five speed is next. It is doing the same as yours :o(((
