Brakes are kinda weak?
So my brakes are kinda weak, and while they do not squeak on the outside, the pedal does when i push it down, and it seems weak to push, so im wondering if it is the pads, the rotors, the pedal, or what...?
PS, I clearly know nothing about cars. PPS, My handbrake is so weak, that on a hill, fully engaged, on neutral, it still rolls. Thoughts on how to go about fixing this or what to do? |

Brake pads could be about done. Also, could be your brake hoses, after a while they expand when under pressure giving you a soft pedal. I had the same problem and decided to get new calipers, rotors, ceramic pads, and new hoses, now I have a nice firm pedal.

You need to inspect your brakes , see if your pads are getting thin , how the rotors and calipers look. The slides could be sticking causing the increased effort at the pedal. It might be time for a brake job or a good service. I think that you really need to go in and clean and lubricate your slides just to keep everything operating correctly.

so the pedal has a soft feel? you have air in the lines which could mean, you have a leak. and i would point more towards a master cylinder. but definitely need to get them checked out. if you dont know cars very well, i would find a good shop.

+1 on weak flexibles. Also full clean and lub on caliper pistons, slides, pins and mounts. Handbrake adjustment is through any of the rear wheel bolt holes, although I would suggest removing one side first. This will let you see the parts and how they interact, if the shoes are too worn and genrally make a decision on how much of a service is required. If it looks good when you check the first side (I doubt it) the you need only adjust the second side as you have a picture in your minds eye of what is going on.
